The marketing strategy has changed on some very useful rooms in High Street, Heathfield. They are now being marketed on a fully serviced basis so that per calendar month figures include fire alarm maintenance, building insurance, external maintenance, cleaning of common areas, all electricity, water & sewerage, fire extinguisher maintenance, business rates and management charges. The only extra cost on top of those will be any arrangements for telephone. There are telephone points in all the suites. We have six rooms available from 88 sq ft at £129 per calendar month to 391 sq ft at £712 per calendar month.
The Landlord is going to issue annual licences which will be capable of being renewed. All that is required is a signature and 3 months rent deposit.
An excellent opportunity for any small business or startup. Contact us for full details with a plan and to view.

Following quickly on the successful transactions at Melody House and Pentagon House on the Farningham Road Estate, Lawson Commercial have now let Unit 1 Windsor Business Units. This is a small unit, being some 1,142 sq ft, of factory area and ground & 1st floor offices of 434 sq ft with 5 car spaces, all in a very smart refurbished condition. It has been let to a new sign company at close to the asking rent of £11,000 pa.
This is good news for the Crowborough community to see new businesses moving in to these units. If the market keeps improving at this rate we have a shortage of vacant units soon!
There has been quite a lot of coverage in the national media recently about our High Streets including a new report produced by Bill Grimsey who is a previous chief executive of both Iceland Frozen Foods and Wickes DIY, comments by Mary Portas who has established 27 Portas pilots and of course comments by Government minister Eric Pickles. We at Lawson Commercial strongly support re-energising our High Streets by introducing free car parking.
We are very fortunate in Wealden that a policy has been maintained of free car parking and we believe that is why our major towns i.e. Uckfield, Crowborough, Heathfield and Hailsham, have continued to prosper and remain lively retail centres. There are far fewer empty shops available in the Wealden towns compared with the national average and we are sure that the free parking policy plays a major role in that statistic.
We all travel to retail parks, increasingly so in many cases, and one of the attractions must be the fact that there is plenty of free car parking. Similarly the supermarkets have been aware of this for many years and the majority provide free car parking for shoppers. Unfortunately many local authorities don’t see the benefits of free parking and you only have to look at Brighton, Tunbridge Wells and Lewes to see the effects of a high paying car parking policy.
Internet shopping is not going to go away and we all know just how easy it is to buy those goods with the click of a mouse and then it turns up on your doorstep a couple of days later. So much easier than spending valuable resources on petrol and car parking charges. The variety of goods you can now buy online is truly phenomenal. This is going to have a major impact on all our shopping High Streets and I know from personal experience the number of local retailers who find they do more business online than they do through their shop.
And then there is business rates…… A topic for another day!
We are delighted to have been the letting agents for Atlantic House in Bell Lane, Uckfield. This has been let to Swindells chartered accounatants who moved into these offices at the beginning of September following very extensive refurbishment of the building.
The building, which is some 7,500 sq ft on 2 floors, has been completely modernised throughout including a new roof, new cladding, new windows, new air conditioning system and re-profiling internally of various partitions. In total some £200,000 has been spent by the landlords on upgrading this building to provide quality modern office space. It now has to be one of the best specified office building in Uckfield and It is still only a couple of minutes walk from the High Street.
