Last Sunday partners Chris & Julia Lawson took part in the Uckfield Lions Charity Classic Car Rally which is an annual event to raise money for local charities. The weather was fantastic with lots of sunshine making a very enjoyable day. The participants all met at the Halfway House pub on the A26 at Rose Hill for coffee. There was a wide variety of classic cars over a large age spectrum and some not so classic who just like taking part.
Having been given our maps over100 cars set out on a 60 mile route taking us up Uckfield High Street, through High Hurstwood, into Rotherfield, then across Sussex roads we never knew existed with fantastic views – but narrow – towards Wadhurst and Etchingham with a coffee stop at St John Nursery, a delightful rural spot with very good cake. It was then back through Bodle Street Green, Burwash and Horam through to Chiddingly and East Hoathly. We finally arrived back at the Halfway House for a first class hog roast with homemade crumble to follow.
A great way to spend a Sunday and hopefully a good sum was raised for the two charities this year, the Citizens Advice Bureau and Dementia Care.
