Lawson Commercial Expand Staffing Levels

Sadly we lost Cleo our collie cross husky in 2020 during the first lockdown but over the last year we have taken steps to expand staffing levels to mitigate the loss. She developed an inoperable tumour.

Toffee was finding all the canine office duties a bit onerous on her own and she missed other canine company.  However any canine additions had to meet with her complete approval.

Happily she has now been joined by first one and then two more rescue dogs to assist and support her with canine duties in the Office.

Bryn, who is a 13 year old  spaniel cross flat coat retriever, joined with his brother originally in December 2020 having been rescued by Kit Wilson Animal Trust after several years of neglect as their previous owner got dementia.

Sadly his brother Jet only survived a few weeks but Bryn who is deaf and originally was covered in bald patches and refused to eat anything but a few cocktail sausages, has improved enormously.

His coat is slowly growing back and he has been to the dog groomers recently for a moisturising spa bath and smart clip. Whilst still a little picky he does now eat proper dog food and is now a valued member of the Canine Team.

Two further younger recruits have recently joined the Team namely Buzz and Annie who are Springer Spaniels. They are a lively pair and unfortunately their previous owners, due to a change in personal circumstances, could not give them the attention they needed. They have settled down to their office duties remarkably quickly loving the increased freedom and increased human company they experience both at home and in the Office.

We have always had more than one dog as they provide company for each other so it is delightful to have Team Spaniel joining Toffee. They all get on well together and the young Spaniels have been particularly good for Bryn who had seemed very down after losing first his original owner and then his brother. He was very poorly when he first arrived but is now bright and seems to be enjoying life once again despite being deaf. Those who saw him originally can hardly believe he is the same dog.

We are really pleased that we have been able to give a good home to these three rescue dogs who are already collecting some fans amongst our visitors.

Lawson Commercial Sponsor Uckfield Festival

Lawson Commercial were very pleased to be one of the sponsors for the Uckfield Festival this year and our banner was displayed above the Events Marquee. We were happy to support the Festival, running in a reduced form for this year having been cancelled last year.

It was good to see so many stalls on the Field on Saturday despite the rather inclement weather. Sunday was a much better day with the Classic Car Show having over 100 vehicles on display.

Local MP Nus Ghani, who is a keen supporter of the Historic and Classic Vehicle Alliance, came along and is pictured here with one of our partners Julia Lawson with the Lawson 1983 Scirocco.

It was a great day out with many people attending. There was plenty to look at, not just for classic car enthusiasts and the Mayor and Spiderman made an appearance on a high platform to liven up the Event.

New Tenant For Smart Unit at Swallow Enterprise Park

These smart modern units at the Swallow Enterprise Park, Lower Dicker are always popular.

Unit H6 was under offer but the previous prospective tenant had to withdraw due to Covid problems. A new tenant was quickly found and the unit now been let to Carillon Industrial Services. This company, a premier cutting tool solution provider, has been established for some 40 years and currently operates from 6 locations across the south and east of England.

They have taken a new 5 year lease and will be using the premises for storage and distribution.

Two New Lettings at Knights Business Centre

Two new lettings have just taken place at the Knights Business Centre on the Squires Farm Industrial Estate at Palehouse Common.

Unit 12 has been let to the Merakai Brewing Company who are continuing the trade of micro brewing previously established in this unit on the outskirts of Uckfield. They take their brewing extremely seriously and are ‘creating opportunities and environments to share and explore new taste experiences.’ Definitely something to be tried and tested.

Simultaneously Unit 13 has been let to a company called Fisher Nautical who are going to use the premises for pure storage. The demand for these small 1,500 sq ft units is huge currently and such units do not remain on the market for very long.  We are particularly pleased to be helping two new businesses to expand at this location.
