Lawson Commercial were very pleased to be one of 15 sponsors at the recent Uckfield Chamber of Commerce Business Awards 2018.
It was a tremendous evening. We had over 330 people at the Gala Dinner. There were 15 business categories all sponsored with the sponsor carrying out the judging in each category.
There were just under 1,900 nominations across all the Awards and each sponsor selected 3 finalists and the eventual winner. In the Small Business Award which we sponsored there were 23 separate businesses nominated which made judging extremely difficult but the winner was Horlock Holdcroft Financial Consultants with Runners Up being Bishops the Butchers and GBA Motor Services.
A big winner of the night was Kevin Markwick of the Uckfield Picture House with Kevin picking up the Business Person of the Year and the Outstanding Achievement Awards and The Picture House winning the Business of the Year Category.
As President, Chris Lawson also presented a special President’s Award to Sussex Support Service.
The Charity of the Night for the Raffle was Friends of Sussex Hospices whose Chairperson Kathy Gore made the draw of 3 cash prizes. £1,600 was raised for the Charity.
At Lawson Commercial we are keen to support local shopping and especially at this time of year when Chambers of Commerce in the area organise special Xmas Shopping Events,
The Late Night Shopping in Uckfield, organised by Uckfield Chamber of Commerce, this year takes place on Friday 7th December and has been promoted in a Shopping Guide distributed widely to local residents.
This promises once again to be a great night for all the family with lots of activities going on in and around the High Street. There is the Uckfield FM stage featuring local schools singing their heart out compared by Uckfield FM’s Peter Suter plus a second stage featuring local acts compared by Uckfield FM’s Mike Mitchell. There will be a hog roast, children’s rides and of course Santa will there in his usual spot in Olives Yard plus stalls and entertainment both in Civic Approach and down at Bridge Cottage.
Whilst making your way up and down the High Street your little ones can also take part in the Hunt The Elf competition for which Lawson Commercial is proudly supplying the prizes. It will be a great night out with something for everyone and deserves the support of local people.
Also not to be missed is a visit to Holy Cross Church to see the fantastic Festival of Christmas Trees which is taking place from Friday 6th through to Sunday 8th December.
Let us also spare a thought for the retailers of Heathfield. As many will know the shopkeepers in Heathfield have suffered from the recent roadworks with its road closure to through traffic. This is coming to an end shortly and should have finished by the beginning of December. Heathfield Chamber of Commerce have organised a Christmas Family Fun Day for Saturday 8th December.
This is an all day event with many activities going on throughout the town centre so please go and support these traders many of whom have undergone considerably loss of trade over the recent roadworks period.
An attractive lockup shop is now available through Lawson Commercial in the busy village of Wadhurst.
Overall the shop is 441 sq ft including a small store and kitchenette. There is rear access to a car park where 1 space is allocated to this shop. A new 5 year lease is on offer although a longer lease may be available if required.
The rent is only £9,000 pa. and having a rateable value of just £6.500 an occupier may pay no rates provided this is their only commercial premises.
Lawson Commercial have just been instructed to market the freehold of Scantech’s premises on the Ghyll Road Estate at Heathfield, suitable for manufacturing / storage and benefitting from a significant amount of high specification office accommodation.
Scantech are moving to new larger premises in Hastings. The premises consist of two interconnecting units offering just under 6,400 sq ft of space in total.
Unit 22 has a gross internal ground floor area of 1,920 sq ft with a useful mezzanine platform of 557 sq ft ideal as either additional office area or storage.
Unit 23 has been fitted out to a high standard including plenty of suspended ceilings plus air conditioning and LED lighting.
The ground floor has a gross internal area of 1,920 sq ft whilst the 1st floor has been fitted out into a number of office areas totalling some 1,962 sq ft. There is good natural light from windows on the rear elevation overlooking Ghyll Road itself.
This is a great opportunity for a business that has a high office requirement as this building is very well fitted out and in a good state of repair and decoration throughout. It benefits from around 16 car spaces as well as good lorry access and turning area.
Freehold of this calibre do not come on the market often and this one can be purchased for £595,000.
Just on the market through Lawson Commercial is a delightful small shop in Mayfield which is full of character and which formerly traded as an ironmongers.
The shop is some 235 sq ft and is available on a long or short lease at a low rent of £5,250 per annum. Although this has been used as a retail shop in the past it would be an ideal small office for someone who wants separate commercial premises with loads of character. It has a wealth of feature beams plus feature fireplaces and would be a delightful working environment.
The rent is only £100 per week and those occupying no other commercial property should qualify for small business rate relief so there should be no rates to pay.
Well worth a look.
A brand new industrial/warehouse/business unit, built to a very high standard, has just become available in Heathfield which is superior to other units of this type in the area.
The main warehouse/business area is 1,556 sq ft with an eaves height of 20’ and an apex height of 22’9” which is taller than average.
There is mezzanine storage of 464 sq ft plus a rear office, 2 w.c.s and a fully fitted shower.
To the front is an attractive brick pavioured area providing loading access and car parking, with nice landscaped surrounds. Being overall 2,488 sq ft. this property needs to be viewed to fully appreciate the facilities. A new lease is available at a rent of £20,000 pa.
This is one of the smartest industrial style building we have seen in a long time and would lend itself well to someone who wants a good sized office with storage facilities or some form of e-commerce distribution business.
Lawson Commercial have just been instructed to market two interconnecting units on the Wealden Industrial Estate in Crowborough.
The two units provide just under 3,000 sq ft of accommodation and within that area is an office and a small mezzanine store.
The premises have previously been used for cutting granite worktops and before that bodyshop repairs. They would thus be ideal for car restoration or repairs. They would also lend themselves to a wide variety of other B1 & B2 industrial uses. It is rare for freehold industrial premises to come available in Crowborough so we are expecting there to be strong interest.
Lawson Commercial have just brought to the market something a little bit unusual being a small detached single storey storage facility in Connors Yard in Crowborough which is available on a freehold basis.
The building is only 245 sq ft and has been used for many years purely for storage. There is no water or power supply currently connected. We understand that there is the right to park one car in the common areas. All this available for a very modest price of £55,000.
