The Lawson Family Attend The Heathfield Show

Heathfield Show which took place last Saturday is a proper agricultural in the traditional sense and always attracts a large crowd including the Lawson Family.  The weather was kind this year being dry and reasonably warm without being too hot.

The High Weald is well known for the diversity of its landscape, crafts, food stuffs and expertise passed from generation to generation and this show is a fitting showcase. There are competitive classes for sheep, cows, pigs and horses with even an insight into bygone times with carriage classes and ladies side saddle.

The show also includes several demonstrations of country pursuits including falconry, gun dogs and the traditional parade of fox hounds.

There were over 200 trade stands, a farmers market and a kids funfair much enjoyed by our young grandson who wanted a go on everything.

He also enjoyed the Shetland pony Grand National and especially the big attraction this year which was the Monster Trucks.

Lets Do Some Damage.

A really good family fun day out with so much to do.

Unit Let In Apex Park, Hailsham

Lawson Commercial have relocated a metal fabrication company, originally based in Eastbourne, to new larger premises on the Apex Park Estate in Diplocks Way, Hailsham.

Their new unit is one of the front units on this Estate which has a gross internal ground floor area of just over 2,500 sq ft and because of its height has a 1st & 2nd floor internally which can be used for a mixture of production, storage and offices.

In total the building is just over 4,500 sq ft.

We were very pleased to attract a business from outside the Wealden area to relocate to this estate.

More Shops Required

Despite the media attention on the dire state of High Streets and the well reported problems for stores such as House of Fraser and Debenhams, Chris Lawson, partner of Lawson Commercial, reports High Streets in the Wealden towns are bucking the trend. He reported that both Uckfield High Street shops which Lawson Commercial have recently been marketing had quickly found occupiers.

The former Rose & Olive Teashop has now been let to a local Uckfield business which is relocating within the Town to larger and more prominent position and a letting of the former Fluffy Side Up shop is well advanced.  In Crowborough the former Your Move estate agency premises is now under offer. Following their successful letting of the former Steamer Trading premises in Station Approach, Heathfield Lawson Commercial would particularly like more shops in Heathfield.

Chris Lawson went on to speculate that perhaps one of the reasons for the apparent success of Wealden towns in having few empty shops could be the fact they all enjoy free car parking.  There is good demand across the area currently with a wide variety of local retailers who see opportunities in the challenging marketplace. Lawson Commercial would welcome hearing from any existing retailer who is looking to move or any Landlord who is seeking good reliable tenants. Last Remaining Sites For Sale – Maresfield

Following the completion of the sale of Site 9.2 to a local Sussex-based engineering company, only 3 sites remain available of the original 10. at Ashdown Business Park, Maresfield.

The sites between the new Premier Inn/Costa Coffee site and the John Lewis depot remain available and are likely to be combined giving a total of some 2.65 acres. There is planning consent for a new industrial building of just under 40,000 st ft together with a 2-storey office building of 10,000 sq ft. but the Vendors would consider offers involving alternative schemes. This area, owing to its prominent position, would actually lend itself very well to some form of quasi retail operation.

The other site that remains available is Site 10 lying opposite the lake. It has planning consent for four B1 light industrial units with offices occupying an area of 0.75 acres but again alternative schemes may well be possible.

The Ashdown Business Park dedicated website has been completely redesigned and includes new photos plus plans and elevation drawings for which planning has already been granted.

Charity Lunch in Crowborough For Worthy Cause

Lawson Commercial partners Chris and Julia Lawson were pleased to support Councillor Greg Rose, Mayor of Crowborough for his Charity Lunch at Crowborough Beacon Golf Club yesterday.

The lunch was organised to raise funds for one of the Mayor’s chosen charities Acorns for Cancer Research UK.  The lunch was followed by a talk from Dr Melanie Flint of the Cancer Research Unit at the University of Brighton who gave some interesting insights into the effects of stress on cancer treatment which is one of the fields she is working on as well as developments in immunotherapy.

Cancer Research UK is a very worthy cause and one that we have often supported in the past. The talk was followed by a Raffle with some very good prizes where we were lucky enough to win a meal voucher. The event raised, we understand, in excess of £1,400.
